Gully Howard Technical’s Occupational Hygiene department offer clients a range of services including, Chemical Exposure Monitoring Services. Our Chartered Occupational Hygienists have many years of experience in Personal Exposure Monitoring and Controlling Airborne Hazardous Substances.
Hand Arm Vibration (HAV)
Gully Howard Technical can provide advice on the risk assessment and control of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS). Measurement of individual hand held or guided tools can be undertaken during their normal workplace usage. Daily vibration exposures will be calculated and, if necessary, control measures recommended to minimise operators’ daily exposure.
Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV)
Gully Howard Technical’s qualified and experienced Occupational Hygienists are trained in the testing and examination of Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems. We can carry out LEV testing for you, as well as offering LEV training. This training ranges from a one day LEV Awareness Course, to BOHS Proficiency Modules in LEV.
Thermal Environment
Control measures to reduce such thermal stress can also be provided. The human body has a core temperature of ~37oC, if this temperature is raised or lowered by more than 2oC then serious health outcomes can occur. Staff can be exposed to heat or cold due to the climatic conditions of their work location or due to the industry that they work.
RPE Face-Fit Testing
RPE face-fit testing checks that the seal between tight-fitting RPE and the wearer’s face is satisfactory. Leakage via the face seal can occur if the RPE is the wrong size or shape for an individual’s face. This will result in inward leakage of the external air and potential exposure to hazardous substances which may be detrimental to health.
